Hip-Hop/Rap is a music genre born in the urban streets, in the Bronx, in New York City in the 1970s. It consists of rhytmic vocal style (rap) accompanied with backing beats. The roots of hip hop are found in African American and West African music. Some of the subgenres are Alternative Rap, Dirty South, Freestyle, Gangsta Rap, Underground Hip-Hop.
